SUMMARY REPORT ON THE RESULTS OF THE REGIONAL NGO/CSO CONSULTATIONS
NGO/CSOs and social movements held consultations prior to the 5 Regional Conferences of FAO in 2004. These were organized by the International NGO/CSO Planning Committee for Food Sovereignty (IPC) with support from FAO. About 300 organizations participated overall, representing farmers, rural workers, indigenous peoples, fisherfolk, women, youth and NGOs from roughly 100 countries. In addition, a total of 20 sub-regional and national consultations were held to feed into the regional consultations in all continents. We would like to thank the Italian government for their financial support and the host countries for their cooperation and hospitality. We are pleased to the present to the CFS this brief report highlighting some of the main points raised in the consultations.
