On 8 and 9 of April 2020, the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Europe and Central Asia are going to hold in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, their biennial Regional Consultation. The objective of this consultation is to discuss key topics pertinent to food production in the region and evaluate what the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has done in the previous biennium. The Regional Consultation is going to receive inputs from all the relevant constituencies: smallholder farmers, fisher folks, pastoralists and herders, forest dwellers, ethnic minorities and indigenous people, urban poor, agricultural and food workers, rural youth and women, consumers, and NGOs. The ECA CSOs Regional Consultation is organized by Nyéléni Europe and Central Asia (Nyéléni ECA), for which the European Coordination Via Campesina (ECVC) serves as the secretariat of the ad hoc Steering Committee of the regional CSO Consultation process.
The outcomes of the Regional Consultation are going to be brought to the attention of the FAO during the 32nd session of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe (ERC 32) by a delegation of CSOs representatives.
